Frequently Asked Questions

How do you know if a therapist is right for you?

This is an important question! I whole-heartedly believe that the feeling like your therapist is the “right fit” is the most important tool within the mental health space. A therapist can have every fancy intervention in the world but if the relationship, comfort, and trust isn’t there, it makes progress very difficult!

I highly encourage setting up consultation calls to chat with your potential therapist. Ask questions about their style, how they show up in therapy space, tell them a bit about what you are looking to gain from therapy, and ask them how they might be able to work with your presenting concern.

I offer free 15 minute consultation calls and would love to chat with you. You can schedule by clicking “client portal” in the top right corner of this website.

For virtual therapy, can you see clients who are living anywhere?

No. My current license is valid within the state of Colorado and allows me to see clients who are currently residing in Colorado.

Do you accept insurance?

I am unable to accept major insurances at this time. However, I do accept Grand County Rural Mental Health Vouchers- these vouchers help cover mental health services for those who are underinsured in mental health/uninsured and residing in Grand County and meet several requirements. Please reach out via phone or email with any questions. I am happy to assist in this process!

Do you only see couples as a “marriage and family therapist”?

No! Training as a marriage and family therapist really emphasizes a systemic view on both individual and couples therapy. In both individual and couples therapy, I tend to examine your environment and system of relationships as factors in your experience in addition to your inner world. I think of the title as more of a “systemic/ relational” therapist.

What can I/we expect in a first session?

We’ll get to know each other! I’ll gather a bit of deeper information on your background, experiences, and relationships. We’ll talk about your reason for seeking therapy, expectations for therapy, and goals in the therapy space. My job is to guide you in this first session- we’ll work together!
